FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • How does the protexam test work?

The protexam test examines certain proteins in your urine that indicate a disease. The test is a technology that links two established measuring devices and is thus able to record all of the proteins in your urine. The data generated in this way is then processed using artificial intelligence in order to detect changes in your body at an early stage, before your organs are damaged.

  • Why urine and not blood?

The information carriers in the blood are broken down by enzymes shortly after they are taken. The amount of information contained in the blood therefore depends heavily on how quickly it was processed. This process is difficult to control. Urine, on the other hand, is a very stable information carrier. When the urine leaves the bladder, the enzymes' breakdown processes are already complete. This means that your urine sample can also be transported uncooled in a urine tube with a stabilizer.

  • Will my health insurance cover the costs?

The protexam test is currently for self-payers. If you book your protexam test with us, you agree to cover the costs yourself when you book. You should check with your health insurance company whether you will be reimbursed for the costs of the protexam test afterwards. We will issue you with an invoice for this upon request.

  • How do I return the protexam test?

In every protexam test package you will find a return slip from the express service. The enclosed instructions for use contain a detailed description of how to return the package with your urine sample to our laboratory. The return transport is of course free of charge for you.

  • How long do I have to wait for the results?

You will usually receive the result of your protexam test 2-3 days* after your urine sample has been received in our laboratory.

  • Who will receive the results of my test?

In view of the legal situation for in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) of the EU Directive, all protexam tests must be carried out under the instruction of a doctor and the diagnostic results may only be communicated to the patient by this doctor.

  • How safe is the protexam test?

The protexam tests can detect the disease with a very high degree of probability. We have checked the accuracy of each test in our clinical studies. The sensitivity (percentage of detection of the disease in people who are actually ill) and the specificity (percentage of detection of health in people who are actually healthy) are stated in the product data sheet of each protexam test. No medical test can guarantee 100 percent certainty.
